IWC Portugieser - technical masterpieces of Haute Horlogerie

The iconic design of the Portuguese watch with its imposing size, simple Arabic numerals, slim feuille hands and chemin-de-fer chapter ring dates from the 1930s, when it was far ahead of its time. Even today, the original, clearly structured dial with its simple design is still an incomparable style icon. The tradition of large pocket watch movements began in the 1930s when two Portuguese businessmen ordered wristwatches with the precision of marine chronometers. The large wristwatches revolutionized the watch industry and established the trend towards the larger wristwatches so popular today.
