This version features a 42.4 mm stainless steel case, a silver-plated dial, and blue hands and appliques. Thanks to a completely redesigned case construction with a thinner bezel and box-shaped sapphire crystals on the front and back, the watch appears exceptionally light and elegant. A highlight of the watch is the meticulously crafted dial, produced in a complex manufacturing process involving 60 individual steps. The unusual optical depth is achieved by applying 15 layers of transparent lacquer, which are finely sanded and then polished to a high gloss. The subdials are milled into both the brass blank and the lacquer layer. A special printing process enhances the three-dimensional effect. Finally, the appliques are individually applied by hand. The Portugieser Automatic is powered by the IWC-manufactured caliber 52011, which is elaborately finished with circular Geneva stripes. The Pellaton winding system is reinforced with virtually wear-free zirconium oxide ceramic components and builds up a power reserve of seven days (168 hours) in two mainspring barrels. The watch is fitted with a blue alligator leather strap with a stainless steel folding clasp.
