Developed by Kurt Klaus in the 1980s, IWC's perpetual calendar automatically takes into account the different lengths of the months and leap years and can be conveniently adjusted with the crown. The complication has now been integrated for the first time in a manufacture movement from the calibre family 82. The Portuguese perpetual calendar 42 displays the date, month and day of the week on three subdials at "3 o'clock", "6 o'clock" and "9 o'clock". It also has information on the phase of the moon and the leap year. The Pellaton winding mechanism of the IWC Manufacture calibre 82650 equipped with ceramic components builds up a power reserve of 60 hours. The 42-millimetre diameter case of the watch is made of stainless steel, the dial is argenté coloured and the hands and appliqués are gold-plated.
