Breitling on the way to the future. The watch manufactory is on the verge of major changes thanks to Georges Kern, who has been the boss and co-owner of Breitling for several months.

The Navitimer is Breitling's best-known series. The pilot's chronograph is the most successful and coveted watch of the company. Everything that follows is not quite as successful. Georges Kern wants to change that. He wants to get Breitling from the corner for pilot watches. Under his leadership, the Navitimer will be given a new look, the collection will become more manageable, the case diameters smaller, women's watches will be given more focus and the number of references reduced. This change of course was preceded by the sale of the majority stake in Breitling to the British investment company CVC Capital Partners. Much has changed since then. After just a few months, Uhren Trautmann, the Breitling general importer for Germany for decades, was hit. In the future, Breitling will take over this part itself. The approximately 200 concessionaires now have to give their customers the answers to their questions.  A new chapter, Kern dares to take on the flagship, the "Navitimer". (It remains available in its classic look.) As the "Navitimer 8", this watch is available in a new, additional version. Inspired by historic in-house clocks for commercial aircraft, these models feature a ribbed bezel and characteristic hands and typography on the dial. The Navitimer 8 comes without the slide rule bezel, probably the biggest change. The Navitimer 8 is available in five different versions - from the automatic incentive version and a day-date version to the world time clock and two chronographs. The cheaper one is based on the ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic caliber, the other on the in-house B01 manufactory caliber, which can be identified by a different arrangement of the subsidiary dials. Kern continues to rely on in-house calibers in addition to purchased ETA and Tudor movements.
