Breitling has long been one of the most famous and renowned watch manufacturers in Switzerland. For many years Breitling has managed to combine tradition and modernity. The leap from utility watches for the military and sportsmen to a luxurious watch for everyone was achieved by Leon Breitling very early on. Breitling models and prices
Leon Breitling was in many ways a pioneer in the watch industry and has patented many important findings and manufacturing processes. For example, the world-famous chronograph in a simplified version. Here Breitling watches again stand out with their closeness to everyday life. The easy maintenance and slim design won a large fan base in no time at all. The next invention, the timer / tachymeter, changed not only the world of watches, but also that of automobiles. By being able to calculate speeds of up to 150km/h, racing drivers could calculate their speed. But also the police found this invention extremely helpful and so the first traffic tickets for excessive speed were issued in Switzerland.
Pilots in particular quickly recognized the potential for their purposes in Breitling watches. As early as 1936, Willy Breitling saw the needs of pilots and designed a chronograph with a black dial and luminous hands. Even the marker arrow could glow in the dark. But only the first Breitling Chronomat was completely convincing. The integrated slide rule simplifies the daily work of technicians and scientists.
The next development was the most important in Breitling's history. In the 50s and 60s of the 20th century, two important components were combined in the legendary Breitling Navitimer navigation and timer. The result was an optimal watch for use as a flight calculation aid. Pilots from all over the world have repeatedly chosen a Breitling Navitimer for this reason.
But this was not the only model that was designed in these years and is still one of the most popular models of the Swiss watch manufacturer. The Breitling Superocean was created in honor of Willy Breitling's 25th anniversary as CEO. This special diver's watch was water-resistant to 200 meters, placing it in the world of diving watches alongside Rolex and Omega.

Breitling - Innovation as a trademark
Since 1936, Breitling has been supplying the Royal AirForce with technical instruments, developing new innovative functions year after year. Aviation in particular owes a great deal to the Swiss watch brand. The Breitling Chronomat has made stopwatches functional and improved them. Resetting it back to zero was something Leon Breitling considered not always close to everyday life and designed a second, independent chronograph pusher, but Breitling did not stop there. With the Breitling Navitimer, he revolutionized aviation for pilots and airlines.
Breitling with a high-performance manufacture
Breitling is known throughout the world for its unique chronographs and has played a leading role in the evolution of complications. Breitling is one of the few watch brands to manufacture its own chronograph movements and equip them with very user-friendly functions - such as second time zone. Breitling has so much confidence in its own movements that every watch with its own movement caliber comes with a 5-year warranty. All Breitling mechanical movements are built in La Chaux-de-Fonds at Breitling Chronometrie under the strictest quality standards. But the electronic models are not neglected either and all receive a SuperQuartz movement. These are many times more accurate than a standard quartz movement.
Breitling special models
The world's most famous pilot's watch naturally also has the odd special edition, such as the Breitling Navitimer Aviator 8 Swiss Limited Edition. This model was created in honour of the partnership between Breitling and Swiss International Air Lines. Breitling has been the official timekeeper of this airline for some years now and once again clearly shows its commitment to aviation.
The Navitimer 1 B01 Chronograph 43 PAN AM Edition also shows this solidarity. A homage to the unique airline that shaped commercial travel in the 1960s.
History of Breitling
Breitling was founded in 1884 by Leon Breitling and is particularly renowned for having shaped the watchmaking world with innovations such as the second independent push-piece of a chronomat watch or the tachymeter. The company remained in family ownership until the late 1970s and was then sold to Ernest Schneider, who, despite times of crisis, reissued the famous models and even launched new models such as the Breitling Aerospace or Breitling Chronospace. Breitling was sold again in 2017 and is now managed by the CEO of CVC Capital Partners, Georges Kern.
