Breitling was founded in 1884 by Leon Breitling and is particularly renowned for having shaped the watchmaking world with innovations such as the second independent push-piece of a chronomat watch or the tachymeter. The company remained in family ownership until the late 1970s, when it was sold to Ernest Schneider, who, despite times of crisis, reissued the famous models and even launched new models.
