All Breitling mechanical movements are built in La Chaux-de-Fonds at Breitling Chronometrie under the strictest quality standards. But the electronic models are not neglected either and all receive a SuperQuartz movement. These are many times more accurate than a standard quartz movement.

The market launch in 1984 came at a time when ultra-flat quartz watches were in fashion. The decision to opt for an impressively proportioned mechanical watch was a bold one for Breitling. The Chronomat model is based on the Frecce Tricolori chronograph, which was designed in collaboration with the famous Italian flying squadron and launched in 1983. The model thus celebrates in a stylish way Breitling's centenary and the return of the mechanical chronograph to its rightful place in the company that has earned its worldwide reputation with these incredible timepieces. The chronomat is available in many different materials, including stainless steel and 18-carat pink gold. The Chronomat has a 42 mm case and the famous 4-jegger bezel. The Chronomat is available with black, blue, silver and copper dials and is aligned with the distinctive Rouleaux bracelet. The timepiece is powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, a COSC-certified chronometer.
