The American Florentine Ariosto Jones founded the International Watch Company – IWC – in Schaffhausen in 1868. He combined highly skilled Swiss watchmakers, modern technology, and the power of the Rhine to create high-quality watches. IWC with Powerful Manufacture

IWC is particularly known for extraordinary precision and innovation. Albert Pellaton had a significant influence here, developing the Pellaton winding system – a bi-directional automatic winding mechanism that still sets standards today.

In 2018, IWC opened its first Manufakturzentrum in Schaffhausen, where you can see the complexity of watchmaking up close. This is where in-house manufacture calibers are created, from robust automatic movements to perpetual calendars and minute repeaters.
