Chopard - History 

Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the son of a farmer from Sonvilier, was 24 when he first conquered Switzerland and then the world. He was an incredibly talented watchmaker who created works of art with designs. He succeeded early on in exporting to places like the Russian court of Nicholas II, the tsar. Trust and reliability were qualities already in high demand in the 19th century. His son inherited his father and continued the work, moving the company headquarters to the popular Swiss watchmaking town of Chaux-de-Fonds. After another move to Geneva and the takeover by Louis-Ulysse Chopard's grandson in 1943, no other family member was to continue the watch manufacture. Paul André Chopard sold the company Le Petit-fils de L.U. Chopard et Cie, Fabrique des Montres L.U.C. to Karl Scheufele of Pforzheim. Scheufele comes from a watchmaking dynasty. The Scheufele family pepped up the company and brought new splendor to the business. Thanks to modern technology and a lot of creativity, Chopard soon became one of the world's leading companies for watches in the luxury sector. The jewelry sector was expanded into a major branch of the company.
Since the watch manufacture was founded in 1860, Chopard's standards have included the highest quality, the most modern and advanced technology, stylistic confidence, precision, functionality, and elegant appearance.
