Zenith Chronomaster El Primero - The classic watches under the starry sky

The Zenith company was founded in 1865 by George Favre-Jacot in Le Locle, Switzerland. However, the manufacture received its definitive logo and the now world-famous name Zenith only because George measured the starry sky with a movement when he had succeeded in creating a particularly good watch. The new name was to be Zenith, meaning the highest point of the cosmos, because he aspired to and built to the highest standards of precision. Consequently, he chose the famous five-pointed star as his trademark. From then on, Zenith stood for a true star in the sky of watch manufactures and the company has maintained this position until today. In 1969, Zenith beat other renowned manufactures to the punch with its famous El Primero movement and became the first manufacture to introduce an automatic movement with an oscillation rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour. In the meantime, the El Primero movement has become a legend of modern mechanical watchmaking. Many further developments have given the movement, which today is mainly used in the Chronomaster collection, the status of a true superlative.
