The Senator Chronograph Navigator draws on the functional aesthetic of historic pilot’s chronographs. Its matte black dial, bold luminous Arabic numerals, and hands generously coated with Super-LumiNova® ensure exceptional legibility. The easy-to-grip pilot’s crown—featuring the characteristic double-G logo—and classic mushroom-style pushers underscore the timepiece’s instrument-like character. A tachymeter scale on the flange allows for speed measurement—a nod to the original functionality of historic navigation watches. In contrast, the Senator Chronograph presents a decidedly classic and elegant appearance. Its 41 mm stainless steel case impresses with a slender profile, lending the mechanical chronograph the understated presence of a sophisticated dress watch. Inspired by historic Glashütte observation watches, its silver-white, finely grained dial combines classic restraint with exquisite attention to detail. Applied Roman numerals in solid gold with a blue coating and blued hands provide subtle accents. The symmetrically arranged 30-minute counter and small seconds display lend the dial a balanced clarity, while the signature Panorama Date at 6 o’clock is framed by a delicate white gold border. At the heart of both models beats the automatic Calibre 37-24, an integrated chronograph movement featuring column-wheel control. Measuring 34.2 millimeters in diameter and just 8 millimeters in height, it combines a central stop-seconds hand, a 30-minute counter, a small seconds display, and a Panorama Date within a sophisticated mechanical assembly. With a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of up to 70 hours, the in-house Calibre 37-24 is engineered for reliable precision in everyday use. Its silicon balance spring ensures high resistance to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations. The sapphire crystal case back offers a fascinating view of the exquisitely finished mechanics. Typical hallmarks of Glashütte watchmaking define the movement’s appearance: bevelled edges, polished steel components, blued screws, and the characteristic three-quarter plate featuring the Glashütte stripe finish. A newly designed, highly skeletonized rotor—featuring a 21-karat gold oscillating weight and the iconic double-G logo—adds a distinctive touch. It is this combination of technical substance and masterful craftsmanship that elevates the Senator Chronograph far beyond its role as a precise instrument. Both chronographs also offer scope for individual style in their choice of straps. Depending on the version, options include a black Louisiana alligator leather strap, a sand-coloured synthetic strap, or a stainless steel bracelet. Practical quick-change spring bars allow the straps to be swapped without tools. For the first time, Glashütte Original has also equipped these models with a quick-change system for the double folding clasp, making it easy to transfer the clasp between different straps. A small technical innovation that underscores the ambition of the two new chronographs: here, tradition is preserved not by standing still, but by consistently evolving it.
