The Fabrique des Billodes company was put into operation in Switzerland in 1865. This is where Zenith's success story begins. Georges Favre-Jacot opted for Le Locle as his headquarters. From 1911 the factory was called "Fabrique des Montres Zenith". The El Primero chronograph movement was launched in the 1970s after two years of development. The first automatic movement of its time with 36,000 vibrations per hour. Thanks to its high quality workmanship, the "El Primero" is now regarded as the best-known movement of its kind. This high quality is still reflected today in the product lines, including the Zenith Pilot series launched in 1909.
