The launch of Longines' first flagship in 1957 proved to be a lasting success. This immortal series is still part of the brand's offer today, albeit in a modified version. All the watches in the collection are equipped with mechanical movements with automatic winding and are aimed primarily at fans of traditional, hard-wearing watches. History of Longines

In 1832 Ernest Francillion founded a watch trade in Saint-Imier. Ernest's nephew took over the company in 1854 and bought a piece of land outside Saint-Imier called the elongated meadows. In French "Les Longines"
In 1903 the first ladies pendant watch was created and only 2 years later the first men's wristwatch. After that the company concentrated mainly on sports timekeeping. One of the most historical records was the Atlantic crossing of the aviation pioneer Lindbergh in 1927, who was also instrumental in the production of a special watch that simplified the determination of longitude during flight and was available under his name from 1932.
Like many other major watch manufacturers, Longines, too, went through a crisis in the 1980s with the mass production of quartz watches, which led to their integration into the then SMH Group and now Swatch Group.
