Mido Commander

Since its launch in 1959, the Commander has been in continuous production and the design of this collector's favorite watch has remained virtually unchanged to this day. This makes the Commander one of the classics of the watch industry. Clear lines, analog display, large date display and the monocoque case with automatic movement are typical for the Commander.  Whether in neo vintage look with Milanaise bracelet or complemented by modern details - the Commander watch is just as popular today as it was over 50 years ago.

Mido watches: Fusion of architecture and design

From the Eiffel Tower and the Royal Albert Hall in London to the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the Colosseum of Rome and the ArtScience Museum in Singapore, Mido's collections are inspired by historic buildings. Beautiful details, shapes, lines, curves and curvatures are taken up and individually interpreted in the design of every Mido men's and women's watch.

Mido automatic watches: timeless companions with highest precision

Mido's self-imposed goal is to produce a rugged and water-resistant automatic watch with the latest technology in a timeless design. Modern display elements such as moon phase display, full calendar, second time zone, date and weekday display leave nothing to be desired. Swiss automatic movements with high-quality Nivaflex spring, durable materials such as leather, rubber and stainless steel, optical details such as colored dials and transparent case backs make a Mido men's and women's watch a functional and stylish companion.
History of Mido - from car to automatic
Founded in 1918 by the brothers Georges and Henri Schaeren, Mido - derived from the Spanish "Yo mido" ("I measure") - quickly became one of the most important watch manufacturers in Switzerland. The company initially found a market in the automobile segment and for car enthusiasts displayed the radiator grilles of popular car brands such as Fiat, Ford and Bugatti in watch cases and even presented these "watches of the motorists" at the Geneva Auto Salon.

Developed in 1934, the Multifort is one of the milestones in Mido's traditional history. It was the first watch ever to feature not only an automatic movement, but was also antimagnetic, water-resistant and shock-resistant. Initially specializing in water-resistant watches, the company later focused on automatic winding. With the Mido Ocean Star, the then revolutionary single-shell case was introduced. In the 1970s, the company played a major role in the development of digital watches.
Since 1985, the Mido brand has been part of the Swatch Group, the world leader in the watch industry. Today, the company is based in the industrial city of Le Locle, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking, and Mido products are sold in 70 countries.
