Chopard looks back on a history of more than 150 years. Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the son of a farmer from Sonvilier, was 24 when he first conquered Switzerland and then the whole world. He was an incredibly talented watchmaker who created works of art with designs. He succeeded early in exporting to places such as the Russian court of the Tsar Nicholas II. Trust and reliability were already highly demanded qualities in the 19th century.Special key dates were 1860, 1943 and 1996. In 1860 Louis-Ulysse Chopard opened his watchmaker's workshop in the Swiss town of Sonvilier, in 1943 Chopard was sold to Karl Scheufele from Pforzheim and in 1996 his own manufactory was founded in Fleurier. This was the breakthrough. Meanwhile, the watch and jewelry manufacturer is known all over the world and produces timepieces and jewelry of various kinds.
Fope
Umberto Cazzola, the first of the Cazzola jewelry dynasty, opened his first goldsmith workshop in 1929 with about 20 employees and eventually passed on his innovative, pioneering approach to his son Odino.A state-of-the-art factory
After World War II, the workshop evolved into a state-of-the-art factory thanks to the strong economic growth that swept the entire country. Odino invested in modern technologies that allowed him to develop revolutionary products, such as the flexible metal belts that would be the heart of production until the 1960s. In 1948, at the Vicenza Fair, FOPE presented for the first time some works of the best modern goldsmiths.
The third generation
Umberto (named after his grandfather) and his sister Ines transformed the family business, investing extensively in research and development and perfecting state-of-the-art technologies. During these years, FOPE specialized in the production of watch straps and watch cases in gold and began experimenting with new techniques to create exquisite jewelry.
An international brand
FOPE inaugurates its new headquarters in the center of Vicenza: a modern building that houses the premises and production. Here the company continues to combine craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, securing leading, distinctive jewelry collections.
During these years, the fourth generation joined the family business: Giulia, Umberto's daughter who passed away in early 2019, opened the American branch in New York. She later directed the brand's marketing strategies and became part of the company's board of directors, playing a fundamental role in the global launch of FOPE.
2007
Flex'it, style and innovation
The Flex'it line includes stretchable bracelets and rings made exclusively of 18-karat gold that are completely flexible thanks to tiny gold springs hidden between each link.
FOPE invented this groundbreaking system several decades ago, then patented it and applied it to its signature gold mesh chain in 2007. Since day one, Eka has represented a true revolution in the way women wear their jewelry. The original roll-on mesh chain became a new must-have to wear on your wrist 24/7.
90 years of beautiful jewelry making
Inspired by its origins and the values that have always guided the company's strategies, FOPE is unveiling a major restyling project in 2019 that includes a new logo, colors, communication tools and brand identity. These new elements mark the 90th anniversary of its founding, a fantastic achievement for a company that has always been owned by the same family and has grown significantly over time thanks to leading distinctive jewelry collections. FOPE also presents a new brand collection called Eka Anniversario, a new version of the best-selling series consisting of a subtle but fundamental redesign of the roundel, a real delight for those looking for Italian elegance, comfort, high quality and wearability. New upcoming novelties are in the pipeline.
Wellendorff
Just like Chopard and us too , Wellendorff originates from the jewelry city of Pforzheim. We have meanwhile moved to Stuttgart, Wellendorff is now known around the world for their ausergewöhnliches design.The success of the family business has its origins in the conviction of the founder Ernst Alexander Wellendorff, namely to take only the best of everything - always the best metals, only the best goldsmiths and the best tools. Beginning with the motto of producing high-quality jewelry, Ernst Alexander Wellendorff furnished both European royalty and the Russian court of the tsars with his beautiful jewelry.
Grandson of the founder, Hanspeter Wellendorff, transformed Wellendorff into an independent brand in 1970. A radiant crowned "W" as a seal has since adorned all of the company's designs and stands for the high quality of the house.
The fourth generation is already active in the company. Nevertheless, the philosophy is still flawlessly implemented and transferred to Wellendorff jewelry, which today inspires ladies of the goldsmith's art worldwide.
